From the desk of NCSY Alumni Director - Rabbi Dave Felsenthal

Once at a Shabbaton in Columbus Ohio I heard an NCSY’er ask Rabbi Efraim Buchwald, “Who is greater someone who has been religious all their life or someone who is relatively new to Jewish involvement in their life?” He answered “It is not on what rung of the ladder you stand but whether you are climbing up or down!” The real question was - How can I ever catch up to where I want to be? The real answer was one step at a time in the right direction!
Well, NCSY Alumni has taken another couple steps in the right direction!

My first step will be to roll out a free membership for college age alumni so we can provide programs and services as they graduate and head to University campuses. The reason for this first focus is to plug the holes in the ship before we invite more of the 250,000 alumni in! I have many ideas for programs and services for our recent alumni which I will share in the days to come. Please send in your suggestions and pass the below link to any college age alumni you know to check out the benefits of becoming a free collegiate member of ASAP. Have an Awesome Shabbat,

Rabbi Dave Felsenthal

D'VAR TORAH BY AN ALUMNUS
Parshas BeHar - Metzora By Dina Muchnick -- West Hempstead NCSY

The commandment of the Sabbatical year has a special relationship to Har Sinai. At Har Sinai, G-d's majesty and power were so strongly made known that it was clear that the determining factors in our physical, material successes are G-d's will and our worthiness. The land's rest on the seventh year teaches us that the primary force in the universe is G-d, not the forces of nature. For the rest

Where Do You Want The Next NCSY Alumni Reunion?
I've now organized three reunions in the NY/NJ area.  I've had inquiries from Chicago, Los Angeles and Tortonto.  Where do you want to see the next reunion?  Which age alumni should it be for?  Are you willing to be on the organizing committee?  Please let me know at rabbidave@ou.org

NCSY In The News: Basketball!
“I have played in many tournaments and many leagues throughout my years playing ball. It’s very simple, The NCSY Tournament is hands down the best tournament I ever played in,” declared one competitor.

The combination of competition, packed gyms, free food, great organization, and activities for children made for a perfect afternoon for well over 500 people on Sunday, April 22. Long Island NCSY hosted its inaugural five-on-five basketball tournament in the “Five Towns” this past Sunday and drew some of the Yeshiva League’s biggest names from past years. Many players commented throughout the day that the organization and format of the tournament was “top-notch.”
