From the desk of NCSY Alumni Director - Rabbi Dave Felsenthal

With all the craziness going on with the killings, prisoners, floods etc. this week, what can be better then an old friend reaching out to remind you just how lucky we are! Over the past week I’ve had over 150 NCSY Alumni friends contact me through the International NCSY Alumni Group, The NCSY Alumni You’ve Got A Friend Profiles , by registering for the Free reunion for alumni of the last 10 years and through the good old phone!

I hope all of you take advantage of these tools to reacquaint and STAY in touch with some of the best friends you’ll ever have. I also hope, many of you get together and host Free reunions in your home communities like I am (with help of the Baumsers and Stareshefskys) and use these tools to publicize them!

Nothing is better than a true friend.

Have an Awesome Shabbat,

Rabbi Dave Felsenthal

D'VAR TORAH BY AN ALUMNUS
Parshas Tazria - Metzora By Rabbi Yaacov Haber

Thank G-d we are free! Freedom is something we strive for and we treasure. Historically, in this country we have given our lives for freedom. At the same time freedom is a little scary. You can't tell much about a person who is oppressed and restrained. A slave does what he is told. It is only when we go free and have the luxury of doing what we want, when we want that true person, the real neshama comes out for everyone to see
For the rest

NCSY Archives: "How Did it All Begin?" - An Interview With Rabbi Pinchas Stolper
Forty-five years ago, in September 1959, just as a new school year was beginning, Rabbi Pinchas Stolper was given a job that nobody else wanted and no one thought could be done. That job was to create a youth movement for Orthodox Jews. With no budget to speak of, and faced with a rising tide of American Jewish assimilation, it's no wonder it was seen as a thankless job. Rabbi Stolper was told he wouldn't last more than three months.
